While many children face independence at a young age due to war and political disputes, their economic opportunities are limited. Youth enterprise includes workforce development to enhance knowledge, skills, and attitudes for productive work. Through partnerships among business, government, and other organizations, training activities can fill the youth "skills gap." Enterprise development guides young entrepreneurs in starting and operating businesses with organizational skills and technical assistance. Microfinance activities include financial literacy learning along with loans and savings programs. In Uganda, rather than depending on humanitarian assistance, many refugees operate their own businesses resulting in current and long-term social and financial benefits.
